Brian grew up and went to elementary and middle school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. When it came time to choose a high school, he went with a school that he thought would set him up for his dream career: engineering. Only, when he got there, he discovered that his school didn't offer advanced math and science courses that are staples in more affluent neighborhoods. Despite this and other disadvantages, Brian, now a college freshman, is intent on getting the education he deserves.
